About Arka

Arka is a Ba Zi app. Ba Zi — also called Four Pillars of Astrology — is a Chinese astrological system with roots going back over a thousand years. It maps your birth date and time onto a framework of four "pillars," each representing a different dimension of your life: the year, month, day, and hour you were born. Each pillar is made up of a stem and a branch, derived from the traditional Chinese calendar, which together describe elemental forces and their relationships to one another.

Practitioners use Ba Zi to understand personality, timing, relationships, and the natural cycles that influence a person's life. Unlike Western astrology, which centers on the position of celestial bodies, Ba Zi works from a fixed calendar system grounded in cycles of ten Heavenly Stems and twelve Earthly Branches.

How Arka Works

When you enter your birth details, Arka's calculation engine derives your four pillars, your Day Master — the stem that represents you at the core — and a set of derived values including your Ten Gods, elemental strengths, and favorable conditions. All of this is computed deterministically, the same way a traditional practitioner would work through it by hand.

AI is then used to turn those calculations into readable prose. The engine does the work; the AI writes it up. The readings you see reflect your actual chart — they are not generated from your birth date alone or made up on the fly.

A Note on Interpretation

Ba Zi is a rich and debated tradition. Different schools interpret the same chart differently, and no app fully captures the depth of an experienced practitioner. Arka is designed to be a thoughtful, technically grounded introduction to the system — not a replacement for serious study or professional consultation.
