1. Introduction
Welcome to Arka ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Arka mobile application and any associated web properties (collectively, the "App"). Arka provides personalized guidance rooted in metaphysical and astrological traditions, which may include Ba Zi, feng shui, numerology, and other systems over time.
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
During onboarding, you provide the following inputs to generate your personal chart:
- Date of birth
- Time of birth (or "Unknown")
- Place of birth (city/country, for timezone resolution only)
- Sex at birth
- Display name (optional; does not need to be your real name)
Important: Date, time, and place of birth are used to compute your chart fingerprint — a coded identifier that represents your astrological profile. Your raw birth inputs are not saved in our databases. However, your chart fingerprint is transmitted to our AI processing service (see Section 5.1) to generate your personalized readings.
If you create an account, we collect:
- Authentication credentials via Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In (we do not receive your password)
- The email address associated with your Google or Apple account (used for account identification only)
2.2 Information We Store
We store data necessary to operate the App. This includes, but is not limited to:

2.3 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the App, we and our third-party partners may automatically collect and store:
- Device identifiers (e.g., advertising ID)
- IP address
- App usage data (screens viewed, sessions, engagement)
- Crash reports and diagnostic information
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Generate and deliver your personalized readings using AI (see Section 5.1)
- Send push notifications (daily readings, hourly updates, compatibility pulses)
- Serve relevant advertisements
- Operate the social and compatibility features
- Improve and debug the App
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Advertising
Arka is free to use and supported by advertising. We work with the following ad partners, who may collect and use data in accordance with their own privacy policies:

These partners may use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to serve ads based on your interests and activity both within and outside the App. We share the following data with ad partners for targeting purposes: age bracket, sex at birth, and timezone.
On iOS, we request your permission before allowing ad partners to access your device's advertising identifier, in accordance with Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. You can change this permission at any time in your device Settings.
On Android, you can opt out of personalized ads via your device's Google settings.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Service providers — third parties that help us operate the App (e.g., Supabase for database hosting, push notification services)
- AI processing services — as described in Section 5.1 below
- Ad partners — as described in Section 4
- Other users — your display name, zodiac animal, element, and polarity are visible to friends you connect with in the app
- Legal authorities — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users
5.1 AI-Generated Readings
Arka uses artificial intelligence to generate your personalized readings. Specifically, your chart fingerprint — a coded identifier derived from your birth inputs, not your raw birth data — is transmitted to Google Gemini, a large language model operated by Google LLC, to produce the reading text you see in the App.
This means:
- Your chart fingerprint is shared with Google as a data processor acting on our behalf
- Google processes this data to generate narrative reading content
- Your raw birth date, time, and place of birth are not transmitted; only the derived fingerprint is
- Generated readings may be cached and reused for users with the same chart fingerprint

All readings in Arka are AI-generated content. They are intended for entertainment and reflective purposes only and do not constitute professional advice of any kind.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete your stored data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
7. Your Rights and Choices
California Residents (CCPA / SB 942)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect and how it is used
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
- Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
- Be informed when content is generated by AI — in compliance with California's AI Transparency Act (SB 942), we disclose that all readings in Arka are produced using generative AI
All Users
You may at any time:
- Delete your account and data by emailing hello@getarka.app with the subject line "Delete My Data"
- Opt out of personalized ads via your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy → Tracking; Android: Google Settings → Ads)
- Disable push notifications via your device settings or within the App
8. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a user under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@getarka.app and we will delete it promptly.
9. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
